WSS Water Separation System

The WSS family removes dissolved water from phosphate ester–based hydraulic media during routine maintenance. Deployed in the return line between aircraft and a hydraulic ground power unit, the system drains the A/C circuit and the supply side as required. AIRBUS certified and aligned to ATA Chapters 12 and 29, it supports line and base checks without altering standard AMM flows. Integrated sensors, filtration, and heat recovery deliver controlled, efficient dehydration to protect components and fluid life.

Keyfeatures

Phosphate-Ester Optimized – Separates water from Skydrol/Hyjet to prevent acid formation and corrosion damage.

Return-Line Integration – Connects between A/C and HGPU for on-condition dehydration during scheduled tasks.

Certified Fleet Coverage – AIRBUS certified; coupling kits extend use across additional Boeing platforms.

Monitored Dehydration – Humidity sensor and multi-stage filtration provide controlled processing and cleanliness.

Efficient Heat Management – Oil-oil heat exchanger recovers energy and stabilizes operating temperatures.

Highlights

Removes dissolved water to below 1000 ppm, extending hydraulic fluid life and safeguarding seals, pumps, and valves across mixed fleets.

Application Cases

Routine Fluid Conditioning – Water removal and fluid preservation during scheduled maintenance for Airbus and Boeing fleets.

Mixed-Fleet Support – Return-line dehydration when operating HGPU-supplied ATA 12/29 tasks on narrow- and wide-body programs.

Configuration Options

Safety & Operation

Placed in the return line, the unit drains the aircraft system and—when required—the hydraulic supply loop.

Integrated humidity sensor supervises moisture reduction throughout the process.

Inlet, outlet, and system filters (25 µm • 3 µm • 10 µm) protect downstream components and ensure cleanliness.

Simple operator workflow supports regular maintenance without disturbing AMM procedures.

Grounding provision supports safe operation in hangar and ramp environments.

Mobility & Transport

Double-axle chassis with steering axle and tow bar allows precise positioning at the aircraft stand.

Mechanical safety brake secures the unit during stationary processing.

Compact layout eases staging alongside HGPU carts and service vehicles.

Durability & Corrosion Protection

Robust, serviceable frame is built for frequent deployment in maintenance environments.

Oil-oil heat exchanger reduces thermal stress to components and fluid.

Design and materials suit prolonged exposure to Skydrol service conditions.

Why RH Aero?

Water Control—Fleet Compliance

WSS4 pairs certified processes with practical integration to keep hydraulic systems clean, dry, and compliant. Return-line connection, filtration, and humidity monitoring deliver predictable dehydration outcomes while coupling options broaden aircraft coverage. Efficient heat recovery and a mobile chassis help teams execute tasks quickly, extend fluid life, and reduce corrosion-related maintenance.
