Dresden, Germany, 6 September 2026 – RH Aero has successfully completed the latest on-aircraft test of its LGX MultiSystem, removing and installing the body and wing landing gear of an Airbus A380-800 operated by Lufthansa at Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW).

The successful on-aircraft test marks another important milestone for the LGX MultiSystem. Following previous validations on the Airbus A330 and A340 and tests on the A350-900, the A380-800 becomes the fourth Airbus widebody platform on which the system has done an outstanding job. Together with the Boeing 777-200 and 787-8, the LGX MultiSystem has now been successfully demonstrated during landing gear removal and installation on six widebody aircraft platforms.

The A380 on-aircraft test brought RH Aero back to EFW, where the LGX MultiSystem had previously been used successfully on the Airbus A330. Working on the largest commercial aircraft in service provided another opportunity to demonstrate the system under real maintenance conditions. For the A380-800, the scope included both the body landing gear and wing landing gear.

Designed for widebody landing gear removal and installation, the LGX MultiSystem uses a common base system with aircraft-specific adapters and cradles. Its ground-based approach gives technicians, controlled movement of the landing gear throughout the process and is designed to reduce reliance on conventional aircraft-specific removal and installation tooling as well as crane infrastructure on-site.

With the successful A380-800 on-aircraft test, RH Aero has now completed its initial trial roadmap for the major modern widebody platforms targeted during the LGX MultiSystem development program. The milestone demonstrates the system’s application across a broad range of Airbus and Boeing widebody aircraft under real maintenance conditions.

RH Aero thanks the teams at EFW, Airbus and Lufthansa, as well as everyone involved in preparing and carrying out the validation. Their technical support, aircraft access and close cooperation were essential in reaching this stage of the program.

The work continues. RH Aero is already looking beyond the initial validation roadmap and will continue expanding the LGX MultiSystem to additional aircraft applications, giving operators and MROs greater flexibility to use one landing gear change concept across more of their widebody fleets.
